From melting snow in the spring to summer rainstorms, flooding in a home or business can happen fast — and so too should the cleanup and restoration.
Any time there is standing water in a building, it can be a breeding ground for mould as well as sewage and other contaminants. These can wreak havoc, not only on structures, but also on peoples’ health.
Strassburger Tile Perfection works with restoration contractors to clean up the mess caused by floods. Restoration contractors will evacuate all of the standing water and ensure all surfaces are dry.
That’s when we come in! Strassburger’s post-flood restoration requires a multi-step, pH-balanced, deep impact clean followed by thorough flushing of the contaminated tile surfaces to release all the calcium and lime that can be drawn out of the surface when immersed in water – this is the same scenario when you have hard water.
If your natural stone surface has a polished finish, Strassburger Tile Perfection will follow that process with a multi-step diamond polish followed with an application of the correct stone sealer.
Then there is a natural stone finish with a topical sealer. If the surface looks white and milky, the contaminated water has penetrated into the stone, usually along the grout channels, or where the topical sealer has worn away in areas. This process requires a full stripping of the topical sealer, drying of the stone surface with commercial air movers and dehumidifiers, followed by a deep impact Ph neutral clean again and reapplication of the correct stone sealer.
Any time a contractor does flood restoration, it’s important that these processes are used, as it’s the calcium and lime that creates the staining on the hard surfaces that often occurs after a flood.
